KOM Networks' customers to enjoy world's first hardware and software data "shredding" capability
Ottawa, ON Canada – August 29, 2005
KOM Networks, Inc., a global leader in Compliance, Archiving and Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) solutions, announced today support for Plasmon UDO Compliant Write Once Media within its KOMworx suite of products. The new media's advanced data disposition (shredding) capability offers organizations the authenticity and security of Write Once Media along with the ability to shred expired records for document classes that demand physical disposal.
KOM Networks has been an innovator in storage management software since 1983. KOMworx, KOM Networks' industry leading software, provides policy-based, dynamically managed storage solutions that help a wide range of organizations archive and protect digital assets across multiple storage devices and operating platforms. KOMworx innovative software provides Hard Disk Fixed Content Archiving (e-WORM), e-WORM++ (which combines UDO, WORM permanence with high performance disk storage), ILM, NAS aggregation and dynamic capacity management. KOMworx data shredding capabilities have been extended to incorporate the UDO Compliant Write Once Media from Plasmon to provide the most comprehensive compliance enabling solution available today.
"We are pleased to have KOM Networks add support for the UDO Compliant Write Once Media" said Dave DuPont, SVP Sales and Marketing for Plasmon. "Many customers will benefit from the unique new features the media offers, namely the authenticity and longevity of True Write Once UDO, with selectable, auditable and absolutely sure one-time data shredding. No other storage technology can beat this combination."
The new media has an added feature that is specifically designed to completely eradicate data recorded on the media. The feature assists organizations in meeting regulations on data retention and disposition and can be used in a wide range of financial, administration and legal applications while managing corporate risk. The feature works well with KOMworx, which extends applications used in the financial, legal and public sectors to achieve compliance, helping users safely shred data that is no longer needed.
"Our customers demand flexible solutions that can adjust to the growing regulations for record retention and data disposition," said Dr. Shaath, Chief Executive Officer of KOM Networks. We have responded by providing them solutions that satisfy their compliance and archiving needs. KOMworx software combined with Plasmon UDO Compliant Write Once Media provides enhanced shredding capabilities and the highest level of data integrity and authenticity," Dr. Shaath added.
