Transparent Optical Devices for Solaris

KOM Software, Inc., is pleased to announce the availability of their OptiFile® II and OptiServer® II products for SPARC based computers systems running the Solaris 2.3 operating system from Sun Microsystems.

OptiFile II is intended to provide the transparent integration of rewritable, WORM and multi-function optical disk drives in 3.5", 5.25", 12" and 14" formats. Each disk appears to the operating system to be a magnetic disk drive, regardless of the type of media used. OptiServer II is intended to provide the same level of transparent integration for jukeboxes (autochangers) of optical dis7k drives in 5.25", 12", and 14" formats. Each optical volume within the jukebox appears to the operating system to be a logical magnetic disk drive.

OptiFile® and OptiServer® are also available for RISC/Ultrix workstations and AXP/OSF-1 systems from Digital Equipment, SPARC based systems from Sun Microsystems running SunOS as well as Intel '386 and '486 systems running Solaris 2.1.

OptiFile® and OptiServer® are also available for AXP (ALPHA) systems, Q-bus, UNIBUS and BI-bus VAX™ systems, as well as the VAXstation™ 3100, 3520 and 3540 and MircoVAX™ 3100 systems running the OpenVMS™ operating system.
