KOM Networks announces support for HITACHI Optical Jukeboxes
Ottawa, ON Canada – October 25, 1994
KOM Networks is pleased to announce that their OptiServer® products have been enhanced to add support for the Hitachi 5.25" optical disk subsystems.
The optical volumes within the jukebox, one on each side of the disk, appear as a string of disk drives. Thus the Hitachi jukebox would appear as a string of between 96 and 384 disk drives. When a read or write operation begins, the OptiServer II device driver will move the appropriate disk into a drive automatically. Thus the jukebox is transparent to all activity above the device level of the system.
The Hitachi jukebox may contain between one (1) and four (4) drives, and between 48 and 192 optical disks. Each disk may have a capacity of 20 Gb, providing a total capacity of between 97 Gb and 388 Gb of total storage in the jukebox.
OptiServer is available for immediate delivery for the following system platforms:
|Digital VMS and ALPHA VMS|
