KOM Networks announces support for the Cygnet 5250

Ottawa, ON Canada – April 24, 1992

KOM Networks is now shipping a release of their OptiServer® product which supports the Cygnet 5250 model jukebox. This jukebox can be configured with one or two 525" optical drives. With room for 24 optical cartridges to be stored in the unit, the jukebox has a capacity of 14Gb. A serial or SCSI interface is available to permit control of the jukebox.

OptiServer provides control over a jukebox of optical disks via a set of DCL extensions as will as an object library of routines which may be invoked from within user processes. OptiServer includes the OptiFile® II device driver, which permits rewritable and WORM optical disks to appear to the operating system as magnetic disks.

OptiServer is available for any VAX™ system with a Q-bus, UNIBUS, BI-bus or built-in SCSI running VMS 46 or later.
