KOMpliance & OnBase FAQs
We have OnBase Encrypted Diskgroups, why do we need KOMpliance?
The OnBase Encrypted Diskgroups option provides an additional layer of security by encrypting document files so they cannot be read outside of OnBase. However, the OnBase Encrypted Diskgroups option is limited to preventing unauthorized access to sensitive documents. As such, it can be used to authenticate the integrity of the documents but cannot safeguard them against external file manipulation. This means that it can’t protect files against changes that could partially or wholly corrupt them, rendering them unusable or otherwise making the information in them unavailable.
The KOMpliance integration for OnBase enhances the level of security provided by Encrypted Diskgroups by providing this level of protection and ensuring that access to the files and the information contained in them is always maintained.
With KOMpliance, no one, not even system administrators with full permissions, can manipulate a file managed by OnBase, or even walk the directory. KOMpliance protection even prevents file manipulation by viruses or malware, intentional or accidental file deletion, copying or moving of files, and changes to file permissions and properties.
