KOM Networks announces support for Panasonic Optical Libraries
Ottawa, ON Canada – May 11, 1994
KOM Networks is pleased to announce that their OptiServer® products have been enhanced to add support for the Panasonic LF-50XX, LF-70XX & LF-73XX series of optical disk drives, plus the LF-J5000A, LF-J7000A and the LF-J73XXA series of jukeboxes equipped with any of the Panasonic drives from the LF-50XX, LF-70XX & LF-73XX type.
Each side of a disk within the LFJ series optical library appears as a single volume or disk drive. The optical library thus appears as a series of standard magnetic disk drives. The OptiServer II device driver ensures that the native file system is written directly to the optical media (WORM and Erasable alike), and that all robotic movements are totally transparent to the applications being used.
OptiServer® is available for RISC/Ultrix workstations and AXP/OSF-1 systems from Digital Equipment, SPARCstation™ and SPARCserver™ systems from Sun Microsystems running Solaris or SunOS and H.P. UX. The IBM RS6000, DG UX and Windows NT are currently under development.
OptiServer® is also available for Q-bus, UNIBUS and BI-bus VAX™ systems, as well as the VAXstation™ 3100, 3520 and 3540 and MircoVAX™ 3100 systems.
